I can't believe you bitches are whining about the set tonight. It disgusts me. There really is no pleasing some of us. If you could have gone and didn't because you wanted to silently protest with a pout on your face, then it sucks for you, because you missed an amazing and powerful night.

This was the most amazing concert I have ever seen, out of the 9 times I've seen the band now. Every song was the best version I've ever heard.

I like how things like LB with robert randolph are now cast aside as being "standard." fuck off.

Even the stand up material was enjoyable, especially since the majority of them were the good SU songs, and smooth rider was amped by RR. Seek Up was chilling, Minarets had the muted guitar/scat intro (yeah yeah yeah yeah ahhh! SO GOOD) and some vocal intro by dave with lyrics that were from a familiar song that i couldn't place (something something dyyyyyyyiiiiiing), Butch tore it up with Linus and Lucy, something that hasn't been played before this tour since 2000 (and only 3x so far this tour, same for rapunzel), Jimi Thing with Mike was so cool, it was like a scat contest between him, butch and dave ("is that too much to ask? is that too much to ask?!") and a nice buffalo springfield outro, Smooth Rider was out of control with RR (Voodoo Chile!), and Bayou was the most intense thing I have ever seen. And to not stop there, and encore with halloween (SNOW CONFETTI EVERYWHERE, AMAZING SIGHT), into funk intro ants, I could not have asked for anything else. Except smts could have gone into astb which could have gone into the last stop ( ).

Night 1 was "good," at best, compared to tonight. I'm not sure I'll ever see a stronger dave show. If this doesn't deserve a Live Trax release, then I don't know what does.

And i've learned that you really can't knock the setlist unless you were there. The band likes playing SU material because they haven't played each song 2342 times yet. There will always be an elite upper echelon of loyal fans that will not be content until SU is eliminated completely from the setlists, and they start playing BTCS in its entirety. I, for one, will be cutting the band a lot more slack after seeing them tonight, because they've proved to me that they are still, in my opinion, one of the greatest bands around. For those of you that are still cranky after this tour, especially if you go to a show, then i wish you the best of luck finding happiness with this band again, because you're going to need it.

and one more edit: I think stand up is the worst album the band has ever made, but I believe I'll be hard pressed to see a better show than i did tonight.
You said it man all people do it bitch bitch bitch. I have been to 10 DMB shows and there is nothing standard about this show. And I would take Halloween over Pig any day of the week.

No I wish. I was basing my opinion just looking at the setlist and the fact they were in NYC with guests. I think most of the bitching about the show actually comes from people who weren't there...which doesn't make sense to me. If I caught a shitty show I would bitch about it, but I can't really see myself complaining about a show I didn't attend. So to answer your question, no I wasn't there.

Who's bitching again? You guys really need to chill. It's a fucking opinion.

In case you haven't forgot I have seen 40 shows, and probably saw Seek Up/41/ and all the rest of the songs more than a few times. N1 would have been better for me. So quit writing your fucking 8 page paragraphs because it's all opinion. And remember GSR, I wasn't bitching :)

Actually you're right nobody is bitching, I think I had the 'latest show' thread in mind when posting. Would it be out of line to say they were both good shows?

I think Recently is a better opener than PNP->Rapunzel, and Stay is a better closer than Louisiana Bayou, but overall I would have rather been at N2 than N1.

just wanted to say I had an awesometime at N2...I am hard pressed to think N1 wouldve been better than N2, but if it was for you, I hope you enjoyed it cause I enjoyed the hell outta myself last night and I hope you did the same.

SR and Bayou were awesome with RR...I hope someone has those versions in the next couple weeks....

Halloween was just awesome, esp that he got all the lyrics, sounded real tight...and ants to close, ahhhhh wooo

Halloween was last played 3 months ago, what is so surprising about them playing it at MSG of all places, its the same encore they played the last time they were there in the winter of 2002. Were you honestly surprised by it? And I don't want them to play BTCS in their entirity. I want them to start using the other 75% of songs in their catalogue that they have been completely ignoring for a couple years now. Aside from SMTS and Halloween, every one of those songs had been played within the last 5 shows. And Mike Doughty guesting shouldnt even be counted, he came out and scatted a little part of Jimi Thing. Also, whats so shocking about Robert Randolph guesting? He's at all the big venues. I guess I just hate the fact that you have to be at a big venue if you want to hear an above average show now. Take this past summer for example. I went to SPAC both nights and Darien Lake. They played great at SPAC (well night 2, they did anyway) and completely cashed it in at Darien Lake since they had Randalls Island coming up next, they saved the good stuff for a big venue. I guess this all just shows how far this band has fallen. There sets have become so stale that all they have to do is play one semi-rare song and all of a sudden the show becomes one of the greatest shows in the history of mankind. C'mon, there was a time when they used to play a great set everynight. Finally, I'm glad you had a good time Andrew. If I was there I would have enjoyed it as well but don't make this out to be any more than what it actually is. A slightly above average show from a band that is on a very average tour.

That's because he is using a teleprompter now since he can't remember the lyrics to his own songs.

I think he knows the lyrics to the SU songs better than he does to some of the classics
