I know I'm a little late, but I just got back from Denver this morning (16 hour drive) and worked this evening, so I haven't been able to post yet. I was at that Sunday night show and it did indeed rule. And to think I almost got rid of those tickets. I would have regretted that forever.
So anyway, this was probably the single greatest DMB show I've ever seen. I truly wish you all could have been there. Pig opener and debut! Fucking sweet! Halloween?!? Are you fucking kidding me? But we made it happen. It was total insanity. The whole crowd was just screaming along with Dave the whole song. It was intense, utterly mind-blowing. And then Butterfly? Where the hell did that come from? Total suprise. Sure we got a Watchtower closer (again), but they could have played I Did It eight times after Halloween and I wouldn't have gave a shit. Apparently Dave teased it, but I didn't hear it.
Anyway. The trip was great. The venue is simply awe-inspiring and the show was top-notch, rarest of the tour easily. The helicopter circling over head and the camera swinging around added to the excitment, too, I think. And the crowd was awesome. No teeny-boppers, no frat boys, no one screaming for "Crash!". In fact the few times people called out for songs it was for true gems or rarities, ones we'd all like to hear. I heard requests for Spotlight, Dreaming Tree, Raven, Last Stop and Big-Eyed Fish, but not one for Crash or WAYG or Satellite. It was... different. Lots of parents with kids and older folks, too. It was a real nice mix.
Anyway, the whole experience just kicked my ass. I can't say how glad I am that I held on to those tickets. I hope this gets a release like it deserves, or that y'all at least get a good recording of this show. It's so worth it.
