interesting set. so glad to see ynk back and the stone is always welcome. good spot for grey street, but a lot of crap in the first part of the set.

Yeah, I was the friend that Mikey talked to during the concert...Typical Situation was weird as hell...it was awesome, but I get the feeling it was kind of impromptu because Dave started it and then they just broke into the jam in the middle.
Then they just finished off the song from there, never played the beginning. But it was kind of cool anyways.
And yeah, unfortunately I thought it was a Warehouse reprise at the beginning, got it mixed up with the salsa jam in my head. Oh well.
I guess it was a pretty decent setlist. YNK blew my mind, and that was my first time hearing the SMTS -> ASTB -> Too Much run, which was awesome because of the interlude between SMTS and ASTB. New songs are surprisingly decent compared to some of the Stand Up stuff, which was thankfully very rare and interspersed throughout the show.
All in all I think it was a lot better than I expected.

WOW - great night, started off really weird for me though - my friend i was going with ended up getting an extra ticket through a mutual friend's brother who was going - so we meet up with him, he asks us if we want some beers before the show - sure, that sounds good, but meanwhile, we don't leave the parking lot til about 8 15! not good, missed all of bayou (which even i'll admit, that's ok) and the first parts of warehouse, but that's ok too - this show was great though
Corn Bread - so glad to hear this, dave was pretty on
#27 - i hated this when i first listened to it about a month ago, but this was a great song tonight, don't know what i was thinking back then, but it had a good beat tonight, really like it
You Might Die Trying - better than the album version, dave had some cool "wails" at the end of it that i hadn't heard before
You Never Know - yeah, what can you say? carter started with the little woodblock intro and i started going crazy, this guy in front of me kinda turned around and gave me a weird look but i didn't give a shit - this was great, definitely a highlight of the evening
Everyday - just like any other version, still fun though
Stay (Wasting Time) - just like any other version, still fun though
A Dream So Real - knew they'd play this, doesn't work for a big venue though, potential for a studio cut though
(Typical Situation) - this was really cool - started right on the 7/8 jam, then just finished it - fine by me, i like TS and all, but my favorite part is the live 7/8 jam
Dream Girl - surprisingly better than i thought it would be - i forgot how much i like the end when they switch up the chords a little bit
The Idea Of You - was pumped to see the little guitar make an appearance, figured it wouldn't be shotgun after ADSR, TS, and dreamgirl
Jimi Thing - another highlight for sure - rashawn went crazy on this one, glad he played so well - dave's skat wasn't bad either
Eh Hee - better than the first time they played it full band - still doesn't quite fit, but it was fun - the background had the women from the music video, liked this song
The Stone - probably the 4th time i've seen it live and maybe the best - you could tell they put a lot into this one, tons of energy - really cool part at the end, rashawn did one line out of bach's jesu joy of man's desiring ala bela on last stop from live trax 1 - love this song always, they did it justice tonight
So Much To Say - yes yes yes - first time for me seeing this song, before they played it dave said something like "well we've played this a lot lately and we're really having fun with it, so here goes" - another highlight for me, so much fun
Anyone Seen The Bridge - haha this was amazing - dave stopped before the last "baby" of SMTS and held his head still (he's done this before right?) and it was cool to see the band pull off the effect - then when they jumped into ASTB it was great too
Too Much - really extended slow part in the middle, tons of fun to hear this

Grey Street - they put out the 914 first, i was thinking gravedigger but then everyone came out, monk came out with the 12er, and into grey street they went - same as always, still like it live
Ants Marching - obviously a great closer, can't go wrong with ants
man that was a fun show - from Jimi til Ants was just a crazy run of really good music - i don't care what people say about DMB live this year, this show kicked ass
Corn Bread - so glad to hear this, dave was pretty on

haha yeah actually he then started asking me what the songs were - especially for TS, he didn't believe me at first but then they finished the song and he was bit more appreciativeAlpineValley wrote:obviously he doesn't know what he was seeing. i screamed at alpine when they played SUAD and LW and everyone looked at me like i was from a different planet. friggin weirdosDJR07 wrote:You Never Know - yeah, what can you say? carter started with the little woodblock intro and i started going crazy, this guy in front of me kinda turned around and gave me a weird look but i didn't give a shit - this was great, definitely a highlight of the evening

Finally some cool weather! What a difference it makes to not walk off the stage dripping with sweat. The band played a great set list tonight. We heard You Never Know for the first time in a few years and So Right for the first time this tour. DMB got creative with Typical Situation, unexpectedly starting with the mid-through jam and working their way back to a more familiar ending. Even after all these years they're still reimagining their old tunes. We even heard Roi and Rashawn belting out an interpolation of Jungle Boogie in the middle of Jimi Thing. We have a short drive tonight to Charlotte before our LONG drive to Texas. See y'all tomorrow.
What? I cant see it on the set?
