alright, solid show tonight. not the best ive seen, but far from the worst
seek up - great opener, got me in the mood to watch some dmb. tonights seek up kicked ass, the best one ive heard in a while. butch made the tail end of the song his bitch. awesome.
you might die trying - i havent listened to this song much ever. i heard about the new jam added to it, but was too lazy to download it. im glad i didnt, because i was presently suprised with how far this song has come since i saw it in early 05. im still not a huge fan of the lyrics, but the end jam is really solid. happy i caught it tonite.
hunger - someone in dmb or on the dmb touring staff thinks they're really fucking clever. after dave sings the opening "great light of love" riff, the lights go on, they reveal the screens, and everyone yells as stefan releases TEH ENERGIEZ. fuck that. i saw the same shit twice last year when at the same moment in the song, they dropped the curtans and revealed the screens. this is the 4th show in a row ive seen this song, thank goodness its short.
#27 - while i couldnt hold off from looking at the setlists, i refrained from downloading the new songs (27. full band cornbread, 07 shotgun). so i wasnt so sure what this was at first until i asked the guy next to me. i really got into it, cant wait to listen to it again.
dont drink the water - havent heard it since 04, so i was amped to see it pop up on the set. it set off fireworks in my dick.
corn bread - heard this dave and tim, and think it sounds a lot better full band. i wish dave would get some concrete lyrics down full the whole thing though, about half of it was just him scatting
idea of you - standard ioy
astb>too much - now i always thought of astb as, believe it or not, a bridge, so i dont like seeing it as simply glorified intro to too much. but, in 07 that is what its become, so ill leave it at that. too much was solid, if you havent seen it recently, the jam is slower than ever. like, really fucking slow. not the best too much ive seen, but thats alright
sister - i like sister a lot, but having it midset befuddles me. its almost like a setbreak. the whole band goes nuts at the end of too much, then walks off stage for five minutes while dave plays this tune. oh well, good song.
grey street - when the 12 string came out, i was hoping for suad or bartender. instead we got grey street, making tonight the 5th show in a row ive seen it. pretty sick of seeing this song live, but not as much as...
louisiana bayou - fuck bayou. 6 straight fucking shows over the course of 3 years that ive had to see this piece of shit performed. after dave started the opening riff, i darted for the pisser. ive never taken in piss break in my 8 shows prior to this one, but this felt fucking good. my own personal way to stick it to dmb.
shotgun - finished pissing and made my way back just in time for shotgun. missed this in 06 so i was really glad to see it tonight. one of my favorites of the show, i really dig it.
sweet up and down - if you read these boards you know how great sweet up and down is. hearing it live felt like getting kicked in the face, in a good way
crush - another highligh, the jams were great at the end. carter's getting older, but he's still got it.
stay - ive only seen stay once before, to close out the spectacular two night run in 04. so i didnt mind seeing it again tonite.
encore break - fuck two step chants. seriously, fuck em
some devil - one of my favorites off some devil, so this was a treat.
abi - abi's great live. the vein on dave's neck looks even bigger with the huge screens.
stefan solo - i was relieved they didnt go into two step, because i saw an abi>two step encore at cuyahoga last year, plus im sure it pissed all the chanters off. the stefan solo was the best ive ever heard before watchtower. unlike his usual distortion clusterfucks, tonight he played a little jam on the high end with harmonics that sounded really neat.
watchtower - ive only seen this once, and that was in 05, so again i was pleased to see it close out the show. lots of energy, good jam, good way to close it out.
all in all it was a really enjoyable show. i could of done without hunger/grey street/bayou, and a tour debut would of been nice, but i cant complain. nothing off of a everyday, kick ass seek up, ddtw, suad, and crush, plus new songs that are really coming together. good enough for me.
