Invalid Session

Unread post by DaveAddict » Fri May 23, 2003 2:03 pm

I don't know what this means, but I just got it. It said "invalid_session" when I tried to post on the DMB Guitar board.

This has been happening to others lately. Do you use AOL?

Yeah, I am, and I just got this message again, by the way, like a few minutes ago.

phpBB (the bulletin board we use) has always had some issues with the way it handles sessions from AOL users; it's mainly to do with the way that AOL routes its traffic through different proxy servers and different IP addresses.

I'll hop on over to their forums and see if there's any discussion about this or possible fixes; for now, you might just have to deal with it. :? :(

Okay, I don't know that we can fix it right now. There is a fix, but it greatly reduces user validation, and I don't want accounts getting hijacked.

The guys who code phpBB are kicking around some ideas for future versions that might help to alleviate this problem; we'll just have to hope they implement some of them.

Let me know if the number of times it happens gets absurd, and we'll revisit the problem.

Sorry. :(

I had that problem earlier today too....but the solution is easy, and obvious too...just open IE or Netscape or Mozilla and visit teh site from the other browser. AOL's browser sucks anyway, so just use a different one.

I only use AOL for email and IM's....DSL all the way!

Yeah, I've got like AOL: DSL or something...well I know I've got DSL and AOL, and it was cheaper than getting AOL and DSL seperately. It was like a combined deal or something. I don't know. Lol but I usually use IE anyways (at school) when I'm surfing this site, because I don't really do anything with a point in school anymore (11 days and counting left). :) Thanks for your help guys
