Unread post by dmfollower » Sat Apr 05, 2003 4:31 pm

this has nothing to do with his performance. my question is this.....
when i download the vids. they open on windows media player and i used to have all of them saved on my computer and then one day, and i'm not sure what happend but now i can only hear the sound and i can't see the video. has this happend to anyone else? i have windows media 9 series.
you know, it may have happened when i upgraded to the 9 series. anyway, if anybody thinks they can help me out i would appreciate it cause i want to see that damn wwys intro cause i play it with different fingerings. thanks.

do you have the divx player? if not, i think it actually creates a problem with the media player playing the .avi files....i dont know, try it, i havent had a problem

Its not Divx....Its Media Player 9. Never upgrade to it because it embeds in your OS and you can't uninstall it. It sucks up lots of memory too. Hoe much memory do you have? You should have at least 512 kb to run XP proficiently.

hey dmfollower, i just did a format and clean install of my hardrive yesterday. I installed win 2000 and then upgraded to windows media player 9.0 series. the only other thing i installed was the divx 5.0 codec. i just checked the jkanter's video files i downloaded and they are working fine.

I'm not too sure why they would all of a sudden stop playing on your computer. but try to uninstall the divx codec (control panel->add remove) then install it again. restart the computer and give it a shot.

After you've downloaded and installed DivX, I don't know what else to tell you.

Other users have been of help in this situation before though; maybe they can be again.

dmbwallflower you will also need to have the divx codec installed in order to view the video portion of the file. You both can download divx from the link below. I recommend getting the non-pro version then you don't have to put up with adware.
