YNK Tab/Video
on the standard tuning tab for YNK, the video is different from the tab...i can easily pick out the difference and play it like the video, but others may have a harder time doing that...*shrugs* something to check out

Re: YNK Tab/Video
Well....which parts are different??? It says in one part that the video is indeed different from the tab, but other than that I believe I did a good job of following the tab exactly...lemme know so I can see it and possibly make changes should they need to be. Thanks a lot man...peaceaudiophile8403 wrote:on the standard tuning tab for YNK, the video is different from the tab...i can easily pick out the difference and play it like the video, but others may have a harder time doing that...*shrugs* something to check out

That part had to be the hardest thing to do ever. It is possible to move it down to normal chords lower on the next but it is essential to the sound of the song that it be high up and have sound. BUT, the high B in the B-Tuning version is also essential to the sound of the chord. Now, I could always take the chord and move it up 5 frets and 1 string up but that would bring us to the 17th fret(at farthest) which isn't possibly for anyone w/ a dreadnaught or a non-cutaway. So what I tried to do was take the notes that were there....and transpose them a couple of strings higher to get the same chord type structure there....but not AS high up as it's supposed to be. I need to work on that section because whenever I play it ...it never sounds perfect. I don't know if there really is any way to get it to sound that good unless we move up to the 17th fret.....which even if you could get up there, you would have to fret so perfectly to get it to sound good, it would be almost impossible to do in the heat of a song. I don't know....any suggestions are extremely welcome...peace allPilotC150 wrote:I'm actually having some problems with that exact part. It just doesn't sound right. Is it supposed to have that disonance sound? It just doesn't sound like the harmonies are right.

damn, i'm just now getting to that part of the song....blegh, looks like fun
ANYWAY...i figured out what i was originally talking about...the video for the 1st part of the tab...the intro/verse...is played 2 frets higher than the tab...THAT'S what i was meaning...good grief.

Jared, I have got to give you a big thanks for your work on the "You Never Know" tabs and videos. I've been working for several weeks since I got out of school on vacation to try and figure out how to put that song on a standard tuned guitar without it sounding like a mess. The way you have it worked out for capo 2 is nearly perfection with the only difficult spot (that you identified) being the "All Fall Down". This is one my most favorite DMB songs in a long time and its great to finally be able to play it. Thanks again for all the work on this site - it's come a LONG way!

Keep in mind all the numbers on the tabs are reletive to the capo. So if you see a 10 on the tab, it's actually the 12th fret of the guitar. That's probably what you missed.audiophile8403 wrote:damn, i'm just now getting to that part of the song....blegh, looks like fun![]()
