that chord just can't be right...it sounds awful, I think the E is just muted like in the rest of the song, the notes E, F, and A together=bunk

as for the riff that repeats throughout the song, I hear more this...

hitting the 3 on the D to start the song or start the riff from the verse or chorus part as well, and also, I think sliding from 8 on the E string sounds best, however it sounds like Dave is doing a muted slide if anything with no note emphasized...
