Shouldnt these just be strummed chords and not picked notes? Thats the way I play it at least and I didnt think Dave picked, I thought he strummed them. Anyways, could be wrong, just noticed it and thought it looked funny. Let me know what you think.

he picks them once, then kinda stutter-picks (or triple picks) the higher note...then moves down and repeats...if that makes any sense :?

I actually realized after posting that, that I dont know if Ive ever actually heard this part before. I thought it was the part played on the wise men say part but I watched the Charlie Rose video and its not. Anyways, I was probably wrong and what you said did make sense. You know a date of a show that he played this?

Every time I have seen a video of that song he does so...Wise Men sounds about right...LS has him doing it too...it gives a different sound (softer sound) to the repeating riff...

During Wise Men, at least when playing it solo, he just plays the chorus part. Then for the ending he plays the transition very violently..
I can't believe that we would lie in our graves wondering if we had spent our living days well, and I can't believe that we would lie in our graves dreaming of things that we might have been...

I was just about to say the same thing. I was listening to the Stone on LS on my way to a track meet yesterday and I noticed it. I think it sounds cooler than strumming. That weird picking technique is fun to mess around with too.
