Missing chord in Captain...

Unread post by Kickstand » Tue Mar 11, 2003 6:02 pm

Hello everyone... This is Stand... I looked over the tab for Captain that is currently posted and I think, after listening to the album and an acoustic performance, that there is a chord missing from the "Roll me Back again" section. It's very faint and easy to miss in those recordings but I can hear it. I think that it would look like so:

e----------------------------
b-------------------2--------
g----8---4---3-----2----1--
d----x---x---x-----2----2--
a----6---2---1----------2--
E----------------------------

Excuse the poorness of this depiction...
Let me know what you think. Reply me with Q's. Later...

Not to say you're wrong, but JKanter tabs everything from videos that he watches a million times to make sure everything is perfect.

Right, I see what you're saying and I am no stranger to this site and the methods that these tabs are created. Is there a video for Captain? If so tell me so that I can watch it.

I do see your point kickstand, but its in the way you play it, in theory it should be like this

Code: Select all

e----------------------------
b-------------------2--------
g----4---4---3-----2----1--
d----x---x---x-----2----2--
a----2---2---1----------2--
E----------------------------

essentially that's exactly what I have up. I don't write double chords that way. Anyway, I am working on problems for that...peace

I think I am just playing it a little faster than Dave plays it now...that might be why. In all honesty, when going for rhythm....I always sugest listening to Dave...regardless of how amazing anyone is...Dave plays it best...good luck man...peace

maybe this can help you guys out...

honestly i think that section of tab is set up kinda in the wrong order, because from the main riff you should go straight into the A chord, not into the B...so it is sort of misleading...

maybe that is one of the problems? i dont know, just see if this helps (scroll to the bottom to see my post)

What about this part????

Code: Select all

Lead Into "Roll me back again..." from Verse
E:------------------------
B:-4--------------2-------
G:-1----4----7----2----1--
D:-2----1----4----2----2--
A:-4----2----5----0----2--
E:------4----7------------
                  1
That's the main riff -> Chorus

E:------------------------
B:-4--------------2-------

right...i see what you have there, and it is right. but i think it is unecessary...if you just had the main verse riff...and then had another section called "roll me back again" or whatever with those 4 chords, i believe it might make more sense...just my opinion, maybe would cause less confusion

oh i forgot....and then you could say something like "to finish off section, stop at the E chord and go into main riff" or something...just a suggestion

I get what your saying but I thought it was easier to actually give the transition from verse -> roll me back again instead of just having it SAY that. Maybe I should re-word it to say "Verse -> 'Roll Me Back...' Transition" ???? Lemme know
