Ants Marching Chorus Chord

Unread post by billywestom » Mon Jan 20, 2003 4:24 pm

During the chorus of Ants Marching, the tab on this site is as follows:

E----2--3--------
B----3--0-----2--
G-4--2--0--4--2--
D-4--0--0--4--2--
A-2-----2--2-----
E-------3--------

But I think it is pretty obvious, especially on Storytellers, that after that last A chord, before going back into the Verse, he plays this chord:

E:------------
B:------2-----
G:------2-----
D:------2-----
A:------4-----
E------------
I can't believe that we would lie in our graves wondering if we had spent our living days well, and I can't believe that we would lie in our graves dreaming of things that we might have been...

I don't see it. There are many instances in Storytellers where it is CLEARLY the chord shown on my website....I don't know...anyone else???

well, I'm thinkin' of the video now and I'm not sure if he puts his pinky down on that 4 on the Astring, or if he does a quick mute of the strings before hitting the G chord. Either way sounds great, so to each his own on this one. as far as wanting an accurate to Dave tab on this site, It's up to you Kanter but I think its a negligble difference.

peace
good, and you?

And also....if there was ANY chord there, it wouldn't be a B chord. It would be a Bm. This is becuase of the fact that it is in the Key of D. The B chord wouldn't fit in w/ the key. Am I wrong? Oh well, as gravedigger said, to each his own...peace

Kanter, I think you're reading the chord backwards, which is what I did at first but then realized that it's an A chord: x-4-2-2-2-0

Hmmmmmmm.....very, very interesting...HA!!! Anyway, you are correct in that I was reading it wrong, I still don't think that he does that chord....now...instead of the A. It is deceiving because of the fingering he uses. On the LAST time through he only uses his first finger to fret it...then he mutes with his 3rd finger....he doesn't actually fret that 4th fret. Most other times in the songs, he uses that wierd way of playing an A that can be found on the Dave Style Lessons unders normal chords. He used to play it like that but there's a good chance that he just bars that A chord w/ his first finger now becuase he has been doing that more and more often these days. Oh well, he doesn't play that 4 though....lata

Actually,

E:------------
B:------2-----
G:------2-----
D:------2-----
A:------4-----
E------------

is A/C# if I'm not mistaken.

you're right. It's a first inversion A-chord.
good, and you?
