Question about Drummers...
Well, my friend is interested in taking up drumming. i'm thinking that the only way to learn how to play drums is by getting an instructor. I don't think you can find anything like tabs and stuff of the internet like you can for guitar....unless i'm completely wrong. but all you drummers, how did you lean to play?

Drum tabs do exist. In any case where time and finances allow, I recommend a teacher. The practical is of course important but too many musicians neglect the theoretical side of music now days.
I've just been told that http://www.mxtabs.net is a good place to get drum tabs.
Tell your buddy to keep at it. Hard work and dedication pay off. Anybody who plays in a band here will vouch for this. Drummers are a dime a dozen... Put up and add and you'll get 100 replies the same day... But good, serious, RELIABLE drummers are very hard to find.

Understand what you are playing or you will never understand what to play.

That's what i'm worried about. me and my friend who plays bass, have another friend (the one who wants to start drums) and we want to start a....not really a band.....just like a jam group. it will probably turn into a band, but in the beginning we just want other people to play with. He would be perfect for drums, and he learns the stuff quickly. the bassist also plays some drums and has taught the drummer to be some basic rythms and stuff, nothing too tough, but he's really catching on. the problem is that i don't think he wants a teacher, and i honestly don't think he'll get anywhere by himself....ah well! we'll see what happens!
