mandolin experts?

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

mandolin experts?

Unread post by stln » Sat Sep 20, 2003 4:01 am

Hi. In the recent present I got a mandolin from my grandfather. It's like 60 years old or so and needs a makeover but still, it's in pretty good shape. Now...I was wondering if anyone knows anything about mandolines? How do I tune it? How do I play it? And so on...any information is appreciated...I know there must be some experts out there, make my day! :)

please? :D

I don't know much about them besides that they are very cool. They are tuned just like a violin, except the strings are doubled. So it's 7 frets to the next string rather than 5 like it is on bass or guitar...if that makes any sense.
