Modern music lessons

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

Modern music lessons

Unread post by Modernmusic » Sun May 10, 2009 4:56 pm

Our focus is on modern teaching methods. We use many different mediums to assist the learning process. Not only do we work from the written page and traditional instruments, we use keyboards and synths, and audio manipulation software to work out challenging sections. If we simply need a fresh look at a given piece, we use video or one of the thousands of recordings we have on hand. Maintaining interesting lessons is of the highest priority. We offer our students the experience of music - these are not your grandmother's music lessons.

Im totally new to this so please bear with me. Is it possible to use VideoLAN to conduct online music lessons ? I have a fairly powerful laptop with 4GB of memory and a dedicated videocard memory of 512mb. Id like to conduct lessons with my students who are all over the place. I teach hand drums (djembe, etc). I have a miniDV camera with firewire and a logitech webcam as well. How do i go about it ?
