Well i just got a new drumset to mess around with, my question is though how do i tune it correctly. I've read all the things telling you get all the tension rods loose and tighten equally and everything and i did that, but how do i know what the right tone is? Also, for the snare drum, how can i stop the snare from rattling when i hit OTHER drums (its tight as is)? Final question, all the drums have a kind of ringing/unclean sound when striking the middle.
thanks for you help guys, im a newbie to drums and trying to learn.

well i dont know how to play exactly but my brother is like an awsome awsome awsome awsome....drummer nad mainly for the snare i think its always going to rattle no matter what when u change the lever for the things to get farthere away from the bottom skin is when your going to get the cleaner sound but its always going to have that little bit of rattle but you can only tell when your close to the drum set anyways. then just tune the drums to them selves make sure they all sound like in the same way. ok i hope that was a little bit of help i dont know much thats my brother who knows.

that switch on the snare doesn't gradually release the snares... its either on or off, no inbetweenbassman462 wrote:well i dont know how to play exactly but my brother is like an awsome awsome awsome awsome....drummer nad mainly for the snare i think its always going to rattle no matter what when u change the lever for the things to get farthere away from the bottom skin is when your going to get the cleaner sound but its always going to have that little bit of rattle but you can only tell when your close to the drum set anyways. then just tune the drums to them selves make sure they all sound like in the same way. ok i hope that was a little bit of help i dont know much thats my brother who knows.

Start with the bass drum...get a desirable tone. Should be low! Next go the nest biggest drum and tune it somewhat higher in pitch. Do that for the rest from biggest to smallest. The snare, just get it to a desirable tone. I'm not much of a drummer, but I have a shit kit at home and mess with it. that's how I tune 'em!

Okay, well first off: when ylu tune...you have to tune equally. You tune the lug that is right across the drum head. You can stop the rattleing of the snare by buying a snare muffler. Its either going to be a ring or a sticky tab. That stops the ringing. Hit me up on IM so I dont have to have a long post how to do this. Im a drummer (about 6 years) and I know how to do this.
