My Carl Thompson Thread.

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

SX makes all right basses, better than Squier for entry level.

Gonna be calling Carl soon. Les show in NYC on the 15th, gonna call Carl before hand, see if he's going, or maybe my dad and I will swing by the shop before the show.

God I can't wait til my bass is done.

This is for sale on http://ctbasses.com for $5700.

From what we were advised by the seller, it is the first 6-string bolt-on neck CT ever made (this was confirmed by Carl). Serial # is 2-26-95. The owner states: "It has the sweetest fretless tone I have ever heard."

Just got off the phone with Carl, talked to him for about 10 minutes.

He said he was really tired and had so much stuff to do. He told me he'd been in the shop since 8:30 this morning and he'd be there for a couple more hours before he goes home. Poor guy, I wish I worked for him to help him out, haha. He said he had about 40 necks in his shop right now that he's fitting with fretboards and frets and stuff. Carl asked me about my order a little bit, just to refresh his memory. He gave me his friend Pete's email address and told me to email him with some specifics about my order. They're trying to put everything into the computer to make it easier to keep track of. He said he's been too busy to work on the video series too, but that the first one is almost done.

I mentioned to Carl about the Les show in NYC on the 15th and we talked about that for a little bit. He normally hangs out with Les for a while whenever he comes to town. I told him me and my dad were going into the city for the day probably, and he told me to call him when we were in town. He said he couldn't promise anything, hahaha, but he said he might be able to "make some phone calls" and invite us to see Les' soundcheck with him, which I said would be mind blowingly amazing, of course. I may freak out.

It hasn't been specifically started on yet. It's only been about 8 months or so. I'm keeping my expectations at 2 years, minimum.
