Official Bass Guitar & Gear Review Thread

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

I'll, take a stab at this. Well, the bass I bought to jam with in the band me and my friends are creating is a Samick acoustic bass. It's name is the Regency Acoustic Bass, AB-2. It comes with an acoustic pickup built in. I got it on sale for $269. I personaly like it for it's price, for not doing anything too serious. What do you guys think?

oops, sorry, didn't read it right. I'm still new to posting on any boards, lol.

I guess I can say that it's neck really lets my hand relax. It's very smooth too. I get some buzzing, but that's because I don't have as strong of caluces yet. The picture on the site does not give it justice. The colors of the wood remind me of a guild I once saw, very nice looking. There is very little wrong with it, for being low priced, not even large enough to mention. Also, for what people tell me for acoustic basses, this one is pretty loud. The pick guard looks a little weird, though. I have thought of removing it, or putting a smaller pick guard on it. It's got heavy strings on it right now, so it's hard for me to pop it, but the E and A sound nice when I slap them. Also, the pickup doesn't make it sound like an electric bass, but really just like the acoustic sound it gives off.

I guess I can say, I like it.

i'm currently in the process of shopping for a new rig. this is what i'm looking at....

SWR - 4x10 Goliath III 8 Omh Cab
http://www.swrsound.com/products/search ... 4410500800

SWR - SM 900 Amp
http://www.swrsound.com/products/search ... 4400100000

OR.......

AMPEG - 6x10 HLF Cab
http://www.ampeg.com/products/classic/s ... index.html

AMPEG - SVT 1000 Amp
http://www.ampeg.com/products/classic/s ... index.html

So basically i'm looking to see if anyone here could offer me any advice or input about these products... i'm so damn excited to get something thats going to kick ass, however i have to be patient and research the purchase.

would it be bad/wrong to mix and match stuff, like an ampeg head with a swr cab?

check out my band to see the kind of music we're playing... http://www.myspace.com/freehenry
