Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

but to gsr: if you like how it sounds, thats all that matters. and a recording of les playing an instrument isnt really gonna help. he could light up a $99 used fender korea

that's very true. I think i'm gonna just say fuck it and go for it... if i end up not liking it, then that's a lesson learned and i'll be able to get most of my money back for it.

Reviews that are 100% positive are bullshit. There is no one perfect instrument for anyone.

I know, I still hate the fact that he thinks it's perfect, because it's far from it.

I could get a custom builder to make me my dream bass, which would be better than a flea.
Why do people own multiple basses? To make up for the shortcomings of others.

Some basses aren't good for every possible situation.

some basses ARE perfect for a certain player. so maybe for that guy, its all he needed/wanted. for you, it could suck, it could be ok, or it could be awesome....the best way to find out if you like it is NOT to read reviews. its NOT to listen to other people play it really fancy like. PLAY THE THING YOURSELF.

$1295 with hard case and setup, brand new, ready to play out of the box.
Great bass for sure, but practically +$200 for the color (it's last years color of the year). The regular rics on his page go for about a grand, i emailed him asking if there was any wiggle room on the price.. waiting for a reply...

I know. If you have a bass that's the best at one scenario, but crumby for another (OTP), then you need another bass as such.
