it might be just me, but im not worried about getting that "classic" tone out of a bass, meaning im not gonna buy it because it can make me sound just like fonz or just like victor wooten or whatever...i go by how much i like the sound. granted, basses like a flea that are so easy to control the sound are great cuz you can more easily get what you want, probably, but by no means is that a huge selling point for me. playability is what i like.

if you want playability...honestly, get any bass with a graphite neck. the necks will be perfectly true forever and always, meaning you can put the action however you like with no buzzing whatsoever unless you dig in.i am sam2 wrote:it might be just me, but im not worried about getting that "classic" tone out of a bass, meaning im not gonna buy it because it can make me sound just like fonz or just like victor wooten or whatever...i go by how much i like the sound. granted, basses like a flea that are so easy to control the sound are great cuz you can more easily get what you want, probably, but by no means is that a huge selling point for me. playability is what i like.

yeah...im actually perfectly fine with my warwick right now...but im sure there are better out there, both warwicks and non. the thing about the action and stuff, i love low action, like most people do, but i tend to dig in/play hard a lot (even tho its not like heavy metal or anything close to that) so i keep the action a smidge higher just so i can play a little harder without buzzing. its aright tho.i like tictacs wrote:if you want playability...honestly, get any bass with a graphite neck. the necks will be perfectly true forever and always, meaning you can put the action however you like with no buzzing whatsoever unless you dig in.i am sam2 wrote:it might be just me, but im not worried about getting that "classic" tone out of a bass, meaning im not gonna buy it because it can make me sound just like fonz or just like victor wooten or whatever...i go by how much i like the sound. granted, basses like a flea that are so easy to control the sound are great cuz you can more easily get what you want, probably, but by no means is that a huge selling point for me. playability is what i like.
and the graphite necks...ive mentioned it before...do you hands not ever sweat and get sticky on the back of the neck with that glossyness? i just love the smoothness oif the warwick necks

That flea is rediculously good.
I am still completely lost as to what I want... Apparently, rics arent the best for slap, but when I've heard them slapped I friggin' love how they sound..
I'm gonna post a c2b3 jam with Les on his Ric, it has Hair (graham central station) and roundabout (yes) interpolations. It's badass.

i think if i were to get a modulus, id go quantum.
but to gsr: if you like how it sounds, thats all that matters. and a recording of les playing an instrument isnt really gonna help. he could light up a $99 used fender korea
