Looking for a Drummer and Lyricist for Band in the NY/NJ area
Hey- I'm looking for a drummer in the NY/NJ area. The drummer for my band is never able to practice, so we are looking for another one. We play mostly Jam stuff- originals and covers. Mostly Phish, and SCI for covers. We do a bit of DMB, but that's not really what we are going for. Some Beatles and other covers Phish does as well ( i.e. Talking Heads). Our sound is a mix of Rock, funk, and Jazz. Sorta a moe. setup is what we are going for, but not as rock heavy. We want to start really focusing on originals though, but we need to find a drummer. Our band consists right now of a bassist, and two guitarists. But we should have a keyboardist joining soon, and possibly another guitarist, on electric - which in that case, I will play both guitar and keys instead of just guitar. But the setup would either be :
Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar-main parts, rhytmn, etc (me)
Acoustic Guitar -rhythm
Keys
Drums
Bass
or
Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar-main parts, rhytmn, etc /keys (me)
Acoustic Guitar -rhythm
Electric Guitar- leads/solos
Keys
Drums
Bass
my e-mail is toomuch2say87@mindspring.com and my IM is toomuch2say87 I'm 16, the other guitarist is 16, and the bassist is 19. Our bassist and me live in Edison NJ, and our other guitarist lives in NYC- so commuting is not really a problem. We're looking to get something started in the fall- but would like to practice sometime this month, just to get a feel for how we all fit together. The other guitarist and I go away June 24th for 2 months till August 15th, so we could practice any time between now and then, and pick it up after we get home.

We are also looking for a lyricist. I've written a bunch of lyrics, but I'm come to notice that a lot of what I'm writing is very cliched, save for two or three songs. A lyricist would solve this problem. We're looking for a creative person- the lyrics do not need to make sense, we don't need catchy choruses, it doesn't have to rhyme, be in iambic pentameter, or anything like that. You can write them on acid, you can write them sober, you can write them on the roof of the Empire State building- but if you're creative, and would like to help us out as a lyricist in the Anastasio/Marshall or Grateful Dead/Robert Hunter kind of setting- where I or the band would write the music, and you'd write the lyrics, or you'd write the lyrics/poem and we'd write the music- use the contact info above to contact me, or post here. We'd really appreciate having you.
