How do you 'pop' on a bass?

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

Pardon my ignorance, but I was looking at the 'pig' bass tab and it says (p = pop) How do you?

a pop is

A) an accented note. just pluck it a little harder than you do normally.

B) a accompanying technique for slapping. hook the string, normally the d or g string, and pull it away from the fretboard so it snaps back and pops against the fret board. normally, you slap the E and A with your thumb, and pop the D and G notes with your middle or index finger.

In Stefan's case, (a) is the answer 99.9% of the time.
