"Carter the beauford, the beauford, the beau-funk-ay&qu

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

As many of you musicans know, and specifically guitarists who play dave's stuff, you really get a great appreciation and understand the breadth and beauty of another muscians talent when you try to play their material. So here is a mind blower If you think Carter is a super bad ass drummer: JUST THINK HOW GOOD YOU WOULD THINK CARTER IS ONCE YOU TRULEY UNDERSTAND HOW GOOD CARTER IS.

ah, so its not the spoon that bends, but it is you!!

I started playing drums a while back and man o man...carter!!!! whew!!!!
any other dummers out there know what i mean????

I'm not a drummer but I know what you mean. The things he does with one hand, I couldn't do with three. The things he does with one foot, I couldn't do with.. well you get the picture. The man is good. Like I said before, I'm glad I'm not a drummer. :D

peace,
Ken

I was a drummer before I started playing guitar. Carter is just absolutely incredible (as you all know). Playing open makes the whole kit so much more accessible. He has a degree of independence that is only rivaled by a few other drummers in history.

His chops are incredible, but most of all, he is truly a musician. The way in which his notes integrate with the melody and solos is truly amazing.

I can play some of his stuff, but not most of it. :)

Yeah Jpittman, i you're right. There are a lot of dummers that can like, play fast, and do cool stuff, but carter is a real muscian...and magician!!!!and to top it off, he apparently can sing well too....dave said at a show that carter has the best voice he's heard!!!

i can play a few dmb songs on drums, but not like carter!

Carter is a diamond,...in a bag of diamonds.... He plays with a jazz background and if you dont already know all jazz drummers rock, its a natural law.

Just a little insite, no diss here what so ever. But i just wanted to clarify that Carter has a double-bass pedal that he uses almost all the time and that his single foot alone is not all that speacial

Carter is the sh@#

Unread post by Beauford33 » Sun Jun 29, 2003 11:49 pm

Ive playin for 4years now and ive got the biggest love for the way Carter plays. in case you dont know, Carter plays a left-handed ride on a right-handed set and the only person ive seen do this is Billy Cohbam and Dennis Chambers. Now im only being practical when I say that both drummers are absoulutly better then Carter, though not to insult him, these are just 2 of the greatest drummers of all time. If u think that Carters chops are awsome, check out Dennis Chambers, he IS the drumming god. He is in no doubt the fastest drumer in the world right, and so does my drum teacher think. But, to get back to Carter, he has a spectacular left hand that has me twisting in notes trying to figure out. For all other purposes, anyone looking for a drummer that plays Carter style well, please IM me or E-mail me at zildjian33roy@aol.com, this is the name im usually on.
peace,love,and drum
P.S. this is a option for a Jam-in-my-basement band only, i do not have the equipment to move my set.
p.p.s. i live in Englewood, Colorado

it's like being a bass player (such as I) and trying to play Victor Wooten's stuff. You can appreciate it from a distance, but once you try and recreate it, you realize how impossibly good he is.

Pretty weird, isn't it? He wasn't there actual drummer, but he hopped on for a few tracks around their 94 album. Around 96ish they hired their drummer...That band's not good enough to have Carter...
