Rapunzel Bass Tab HERE

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

Rapunzel Bass Tab HERE

Unread post by Jah » Thu Jul 31, 2003 6:55 pm

Well, since the contribute tabs section wont be up for a while I guess i will just post the tab here...

Code: Select all

Rapunzel by Dave Matthews Band
Tabbed from Before These Crowded Streets & a
7-16-99 DSBD (On BTCS Stefan was turned down too low
for the chorus and ending jam.)
Bass Tab by Cody Covington

Bridge:

Part 1 (4x)
G -------------------------------
D -----------5----7-5------------
A -5-5-5-5-8----5----------------
E -------------------------------

Part 2 (4x)
G -------------------------------
D -----------------3-2-----------
A -5-5-5-5--3-2--0---------------
E -------------------------------

Part 3
G -------------------------------
D -------------------------------
A -5-5-5-5--3-2--3-2--3-2--3-2---
E -----------------------------3-

Verse: (Not sure this is right but it works.)

Part 1
G ------------------------------
D ---------5-3-------5----------
A ----3h5------5-3-2------------
E --3---------------------------

Part 2 (alternate with part 1)
G ------------------------------
D ---------5-3---3--------------
A ----3h5------5------5-3-------
E --3---------------------------

Part 3
G ------------------------------
D ------------------------------
A ----3h5--3-2--3-2--3-2--3-2---
E --3-------------------------3-

First Chorus: (This isn't 100% correct but it is as close
as I will get it , I used BTCS and the 99
SBD listed above to tab this.)

G:-------------------------------------------------------
D:----------------------------------3-2------------------
A:-5---5-1---1-3---3-5---5-1---1-3------5----------------
E:-------------------------------------------------------

G:-------------------5-9-10-9-12-10-9-10-9-12-10-9-------
D:-------------------------------------------------------
A:-5-1-3-5-3-0-1-3--3------------------------------------
E:-------------------------------------------------------

G:-7-3-5-7-5-2-3-5---------------------------------------
D:------------------3-2----------------------------------
A:-----------------------5-1-3-5---1---1-3---3-5---------
E:-------------------------------------------------------

G:-------------------------------------------------------
D:----------------------------------3-2------------------
A:-5---5-1---1-3---3-5---5-1---1-3------5----------------
E:-------------------------------------------------------

Second Chorus:

The second chorus is pretty much the same but longer. Mess
around with the first chorus to prolong it.
(Hint: Just repeat the last 3 parts of the first chorus
 and you should be fine.)

(Note: He improvises immensely on the choruses so it isn't
always like this and he bases the chorus on arpeggios in
 D Bb and C.)

End Jam (from the 99 DSBD but it works with all versions)
Note: Mess with the end jam...add a few slides & stuff,
improvise...it will be more fun if you do.

G ----------------------------------
D ----------------------------------
A ------2---3-3-3-3-1-1-1-1---------
E --3-3---3-----------------1-1-1-3-

And that is it...I hope this will help you all that were
confused on the chorus.

Tabbed on Tuesday, June 3 2003.

Thanks :D . Eh, this tab is a little off. This was made such a long time ago.

I figured out that the Bridge is

Code: Select all

G:----------------7---7----------
D:-----------5------5-----------
A:-5-5-5-5-8----5----------------
E:-------------------------------
The chorus is off but I never figured out entirely what he plays.

And the end jam is something like this

Code: Select all

G:------------------------------------
D:------------------------------------
A:-----2---3-3-1-1----------3-3-3-3-1-
E:-3-3---3---------1-1-1-1------------

The 'bridge' is the first thing you hear in the song...intro/bridge I guess might be more accurate...I dunno.

As far as the tab goes: good stuff. I just learned this recently, and for the most part I used your tab as a basis. I also grabbed some from here (damn site doesn't always work, so here's the copy/paste ;))

Code: Select all

Bass riff 1 played 4 times
G:------------------
D:------------------
A:-------------7---5
E:----1-3----5---3--
B:3333--------------

Bass riff 2 played 4 times
G:------------------ at the end -------------
D:------------------ of the 4th -------------
A:5555-3-2-----7---5 play this 32-32-32-32--
E:-----------5---3-- ------------3
B:------------------ -------------

Verse:
G:--------------------------------------------------------------
D:-----------------------------------5-3------------------------
A:-----3--------5-3----5------3----------5-3-------3----5-3---5-
E:3---------1-------5-3—3---------1----------5—3------1----5-3-3
B:--------------------------------------------------------------

End it with
G:-----------
D:-----------
A:32-32-32-32
E:-----------
B:-----------

Then go back to the intro riffs again and play the verse again
After you play the 2nd verse play
G:-------------------
D:-------------------
A:--------------7---5
E:----1-3----5----3--
B:3333---------------

Bridge: this stuff is so crazy you just have to listen to see where it goes…good luck

           “I think the” “world” “you”
G:--------------------------------------------------
D:--------------------------------------------------

thanks for the tab, unfortunately it's still pretty tough for a bassist like me.
