Dave's Sound

Unread post by Alteczen » Fri Feb 27, 2004 12:32 am

I've been playing for about two years and would like to start getting into the live gig deal. I have a Samick Acoustic/Electric that I started with but will soon be trading up to a Taylor 714 ce or 814 ce. I have a Fender Acoustasonic SFX Amp as well.

My question is what kind of setup should I look into getting to start playing the live gigs at small/medium sized bars? Do I need to get a different amp and maybe a PA? My amp now allows for a mic to be plugged in but I don't think it will quite cut it. I really love the sound from the Dave and Tim sessions. That is type of sound is what would be ideal to me. What would be some good suggestions to buy to start doing this? Amp, mic, EQ, PA, effects etc? ...not necessarily what would be the best setup but rather what could I get by with and get the most bang for my buck? I'm totally a newbie when it comes to this stuff so thanks for the help!

I would post this again with another thread title like "Live setup for gigging" good questions. I've been considering getting a preamp of sorts like an Avalon DI but it's friggin expensive.

Or you could have used the edit button instead of posting the same thing twice
