i believe the dm3md takes some characteristics from the d-35 too, namely the 3-piece back.... i dont know how much of a difference that really makes but it is a noticeable difference in the looks at least- if you dont plan on dropping 6k for a collectors item, buy the hd28v

i personally would go with the HD-28V because if I ever managed to round up enough dough for a DM3MD, I would be afraid to play the damn thing

GO FOR THE HD28V RATHER THAN THE DM3MD. THE DM3MD IS JUST TOO MUCH $$. EVEN IF MARTIN STILL PRODUCED THEM, I STILL WOULDN'T BUY IT. I LOVE DAVE BUT I CANT SEE SPENDING THAT MUCH ON A GUITAR

yeah, I have the HD 28v and that thing is a dream. It is close to the same guitar, just half the price. Besides, you can get one custom to be exactly like the DM3MD for cheaper then the DM3MD. It is 5000 because it is DAVES'S guitar

it would cost you list price, plus any charges they feel like giving you. im guessing it would be about the same as buying one from ebay, although they might not even let you "recreate" the DM3MD

I was actually quoted a price of $2400 for a custom shop guitar built to the exact specs as the DM3MD (minus the sig at 12th fret)(from Buffalo Bros.). Which I think is fairly reasonable. That was however, about a year ago so the price may have gone up slightly. The main reason i opted not to go for it however, was the fact that I was told to expect a 6-10 month build time!!
