So, I've had this Alvarez AD60K for a little while now, but I haven't been playing it that often. My main axe is a Takamine EG334SC. I like it because it has a nice bassy, warm tone (even though it's not the most playable guitar in the world). Since the AD60K is a lower end guitar, the nut, bridge, and pins are all plastic. I would like to get more of a mellow, bassy tone out of the guitar, being how the exotic wood is very bright. I know you just can't change a guitars tone that dramatically, but I'm just looking for a few tweaks to help.
Have any of you other Koa guitar owners done anything to make it sound a little better? I know a few of you have an Alvarez koa. Please let me know of any suggestions.
Thanks!

you might try a new saddle, and nut, although usually that will make the guitar louder, with more sustain and crisper (better note defintion) if you wanr to make the guitar have better bass response your gonna have to go back tot he construciton of the instrument and use smaller braces, thinner top, thinner back. So that is not a feaseable answer, but the new bone nut and saddle, and some ebony pins may give it the little bost your wanting. Take it to a local good repairman and have him do it...should be able to get it all done for under $100-$150 tops.
