Strap stuff....help would be nice

Unread post by dmbDMBdmb » Tue Feb 10, 2004 4:31 pm

Having my strap tied around the neck of the acoustic pisses me off because my guitar always seems to be sliding off my shoulders. ANd i see dave has two strap knobs jsut like elctrics. Did he add his in or do his guitars come like that AND can i add one on my guitar with damaging it....and if so where would i put it?

I think most taylors come with that peg so your guitar strap goes on like an electric.

all taylors do, and you can get an additional one installed in the same place for around $5. Just take it to your local guitar luthier

Be careful, though, and make sure they're reputable.

Strap pegs aren't hard to do yourself, as long as your careful, you can't go wrong. I've done it to three of my guitars and they haven't failed yet. :)

But if you feel uncomfortable doing it yourself, take it in but don't pay more than 5-10 bucks. One guy tried telling me once that it'd cost $50 and it would take 2 weeks. I told him to eat my ass and I did it myself, easy.

These things you can put in so that your strap cant fall off. I think most people who play live have them so if they get to crazy they dont have to worry about the strap gettin twisted and falling off on one end. I have them but havent experimented yet, maybe someone can give you more explanation if Im wrong.

so they're something you put on in addition to the regular strap knob things?

Yeah, they are little clips that clip around the strap post. I don't have them, I really don't need em, I don't jump around.

I did this myself.. I put it in the exact same place that taylor's put their strap buttons, the underside of the neck.. it's an easy thing to do, just go slow on the bit sizes, make sure you don't overdrill the hole, it'll fuck you over royally

I would recommend taking it in to a guitar shop and paying the $5 bucks to have them do it. It may be something that is easy enough to do yourself but the potential for disaster is there. The last thing you want is to crack/split the wood on your beloved guitar.
