Good guitars in this price range...

Unread post by GSR » Wed Jan 21, 2004 9:11 pm

hey my friends. one of my friends has been suffering along with a crap fender acoustic that he's had for years, and he's ready to finally buy a new one. he wants to go acoustic electric, probly 600-700$ max. he likes some ovations he played at guitar center, but the round plastic back makes it slide out on him, so the sound hole is angled toward the ceiling. i'm just askin for him what are some nice ones to look at in that price range?

sorry guys, i'm sure this has been covered millions of times. :)
thanks dudes/ettes.

Alvarez..... he should just pay about $250 for a nice acoustic/electric alvarez w/ cutaway & solid spruce top and save the extra money for somethin else. my friends cant get over how good my $200 alvarez sounds... they all want one.

i love my washburn small jumbo, it was $300. It dosnt come with any electronics, but If you get a sunrise or rare earth pickup you will have an amazing sound with almost no feedback-

check out michael kellys. You all remember the guitar I bought on these boards. It's great, and I am impressed by them. Check them out (oh yeah, the one I have hasn't been released yet officialy, so the Legend series will be out sometime this year, and are around that much, but their other guitars are good too).
Yes, I am in a box

Check out a Martin D-15. They are going for around 730 new now, but a used one would fall into his price range. A few of us here have D-15's, and can answer any questions about them.

For $700 your friend can get a great used guitar. Tell him to look on EBay. I have purchased two guitars via EBay and haven't been let down. I bought my first guitar in July for 175$ a Washburn D10S which was a great guitar to start out on. I just bought a Larrivee D-03 for 470$. It sounds wonderful and I don't think that you'll find a cheaper all wood guitar.

they are 500 new at GC here in Dallas. I think 500 is the price that it usually goes for new.

They were going for 599 everywhere, now they are up to 739, on just about every website I've found. The prices when up back after christmas. I think there is one site still selling them for 600, but I can't recall what it is.
