Which model Dean was it that you played? I own a Blue Dean Exotica QSE SP, and I have never played anything any better thats under a grand (and even those werent that far superior...plus mine looked better). The reason you dont hear much about Dean is because they are fairly new to the acoustic market. Theyve been around for decades though, producing some of the most radical electrics on the market. My Dean's tone is utterly amazing when strung with Daddario lights, as is my brohters which is a cheaper Dean model Contour. They come stock with really nice electronics, at least on the higher end...not sure about low. The Fishmans are what ive read that Matthews himself uses or used at one time. Plus, you wont find a better looking guitar (if thats at all your thing) for the price. I got mine for $530, and ive never saw a single guitar that looks better. I cant stress enough how great of a value they are. If you have any questions let me know.

I have a dean Evo electric. I love it, it sounds great and plays really well. As for their acoustics I'm not sure of. I had a friend who bought one but he shortly traded it in (not even 2 months later) for a Taylor. Not sure if he had any problems with it or not.
