thoughts on Fender DG-21
Im looking at getting a new guitar, and Im wondering if anyone out there either owns or has some thoughts on the Fender DG 21 or Fender's line of acoustics in general. Thanks

exactly. it's a frickin fender. they suck at electrics.. dont even think about it for an acoustic. if you want to save money, buy a takamine, or a cheap martin.. if you'r trying to spend money, buy a taylor.
hands down... STAY AWAY FROM FENDER

hahahahahah. ok fender electrics are good? uh yeah when's the last time you've seen a professional band (besides smash mouth which suck and i hate them blah!) on stage with a fender? when's the last time you saw a punk band on stage with a fender/squire? yeah exactly my point. shitty bands with no money buy fender becuase they want to buy shitty instruments to sound "poeticly bad" =)
there are definitely some good fender electrics, but like any good guitar, they cost a thousand or more. and if you're going to pay $1000+ why would you go with fender when gibson makes some of the best, PRS (who is from my hometown, played lacross with his son), and other guitars. ELECTRIC... that is
acousticly, stay away from any group that also makes electric, they make acoustics to make money, not to make good instrumetns. the rare example is Gibson, and probably a very few others, but those acoustics run $2000+ usually, and there's a reason they are great guitars... their name stands for them.
i've played a $1200 acoustic fender, and i still think it sucks in comparison to my taylor which i paid $1100 for. (though the list price was quite a bit more, i talked the salesman down cuz i was paying cash).
get what im saying?

i have a DG-11E and i don't really like it too much.... maybe cuz i was spoiled over the summer with a 310, but now that its gone, i realize that my DG-11E sucks balls.... I have a fuckin twist-tie that wraps around a tuning peg and my headstock cuz when pressure isn't applied to that certain peg, it rattles like a mofo.... Its actually funny to look at, I am thinking about posting a pic of it

i would take my 79 tele over a gibson any day. EVERY les paul guitar i have ever played NEVER stay in tune. i prefer fender because they put their strings through the bodyXoosh wrote:hahahahahah. ok fender electrics are good? uh yeah when's the last time you've seen a professional band (besides smash mouth which suck and i hate them blah!) on stage with a fender? when's the last time you saw a punk band on stage with a fender/squire? yeah exactly my point. shitty bands with no money buy fender becuase they want to buy shitty instruments to sound "poeticly bad" =)

now a 79 tele is some hot shit (as long as it's a california model and not a "mexicaster")
liek i said, there are some great fender electrics btu they all cost $1200+ ... how much is your tele worth? im willing to bet 1500 easily.

im not sure how much it was, but i knew i spent over a G on it. it has a lot of customization and replacements:
i has two seymour duncan pickups, the neck being a strat type and the bridge being a classic tele bridge pickup (that's right, i got two guitars in one!) i'm sure its been refretted before, and it has spurzel locking heads. i recently replaced the bridge because the screws to raise or lower them were rusted out. and the icing on the cake, tortoise shell pickguard

true, i hardly ever play my tele unless im recording with it. i used to play it everyday at school when i was in jazz band, but my new school doesn't have one, so its been taking a rest (its strings haven't been changed since march, but its all good because they are flatwoundsXoosh wrote:"and the icing on the cake, tortoise shell pickguard " -- aww you're an acoustic guitarist at heart. how cute
