So I just switched to Elixir Nanoweb.... Lights

Unread post by cgalves » Sat Dec 06, 2003 12:55 pm

So, I used to use regular D'Addario Medium Uncoated strings ... and I heard all this talk about the coated strings. So I went out and got me some Elixir Nanoweb lights ... and I must say, I'm a little disappointed. I feel like I'm playing a classical nylon stringed guitar ... should I switch to light medium nanowebs, or mediums, or what? I mean, it sounds so tinny !! GRRR !!

all think all strings sound tinny when I first put them on. whether uncoated, or coated whatever.

If you buy Elixirs for anything, It should be for the feel

If you want coated strings you might as well have gotten the D'Addario coated strings , they are cheaper and from all the people i've heard , they sound better than Elixiers as well , i haven't tryed Elixirs myself so i can't say for sure

the d'addario EXP's last a little longer than elixers in my experience, because the coating doesn't flake off like it does on the elixers.

Yea ... so how many of you guys play with coated strings as opposed to uncoated strings .. I've been playing these nanowebs for the past hour or so straight, and at first I HATED Them, it felt like someone spilled a bucket of fried chicken on the strings, but now its pretty cool, I mean, moving around is so much easier ... I have a feeling if I get used to them , I will like them a lot more ...

Anywho, discuss ... who uses uncoated, coated, who has made the change, and what do yo uthink of it>>??

i love elixirs. i use nanos on my electric and polys on my acoustics. i swear by them. theyre amazing strings.

i had a d'addario on my alvarez for a month or so... i didnt have any extra elixirs after one of mine had broke trying to go into an alternate tuning. it sounded so dull and crappy compared to the elixirs.

I didnt like the regular D'Addarios I bought, I wonder if Id like the EXP's. I might try them, should I go with the extra light that dave uses or try mediums, I normally use lights and wanna see what the difference is in string width.
