what microphone should i get

i know there has been a discussion about pc recording a lot, but i dont think this has been brought up. unlike most of u, im not content using the microphone that came with my comp. any suggestions on one that i can still plug directly into my comp but have much better sound? i want to do this so i can sing. also, my acoustic doesnt have a pickup.

Hey - Go with a Shure SM58 or SM57...they are standards in the music world...and the good thing is that they are affordable, but with professional quality...check ebay out for a used one for around $50...really good investment. I would go with a SM58 if you plan on using it for vocals.

Also, be sure to get a cheap mixer so that you can run the mic into the line-in on your soundcard instead of mic input....it makes a world of difference!!! You have to have a powered mixer to do this though cus without it the level isn't high enough.
