Guitar Pro 3

Unread post by olkskoolpik » Tue Dec 17, 2002 2:06 pm

Whats up dudes, i recently bought the program Guitar Pro 3 off the internet, and i am very pleased with it, if anyone wants a cool tool that can really help learning songs u should look into it. The only problem i had was that the sound that they give to the acoustic guitar its nothing like an acoustic guitar, if anyone else has this program and knows what i am talking about or knows a way to fix this could u please help, thanks, Peace.

Your quote on the bottom of your post is excellent. as a personal disgusted musician i must say that that quote made my day. I completely dislike john mayer now. I used to think his stuff was 'OK' when he was strictly acoustic... but that was back in like 98 when i was one of the few people who actually knew who he was.

As for the program.. i've never used it, what does it do... or rather, how does it do it?

Yeah i dislike mayer too i know he can play a pretty mean guitar, i just feel like his music isnt original, he needs to come up with his own style, hes just too plain, and boring, no emotion. As for the program it is pretty sweet, you can use it to tab your songs, and other artists songs. It has helped me immensly in learning to read and write music, plus after u tab out a song u can set the tempo at whatever u want so if u are trying to learn a song u can slow it down however much u need, and just learn it at ur own pace. i really recommend everyone to go download it they have a free demo, but u can only save 15 or 20 bars i cant remember, i had to buy it.

guitar pro is a #$!% good program man

its been 3 years now that i use it....
for the sounding part of it........hum u should buy a better sound card...
the acoustic guitar sound is crappy on my PC too
  • but it plays tabs!!
  • and you can write your songs on it and listen to them!
  • you can import any *.mid file in it and it will find the EXACT tabs for it! well almost...
  • you can export your own *.mid file
  • you can write drum & bass track too
  • good for practice too...slow a song down to learn it and speed it up again! thats what i did for STREAM
    :)
i cant think of anymore advantages.....and if you like guitar pro try sibelius!!

John Mayer's always been more of an electric musician dispite him playing acoustic when he got in the spotlight at first...he considered the acoustic a necessity when playing solo, which for all intents and purposes is pretty true...but I don't get why you would like him before but not now that he's gotten bigger...

i think mayer's music is definitely original, if such a thing as original music is possible. his progressions are usually quite complex, and he's got an interesting rhythmic sense, at least from what i've heard. i don't see how people can say that his music is boring. one might not like the style, but more often than not, there's always a twist or surprise in his songs, which can't be said for most singer/songwriters.

the DMB community fears John Mayer...that's the only reason he's looked down upon. They can deny it all they want but that's the real deal.

you're right about the "fear"...but i think its also a matter of loyalty to an artist...you know the "i love britney spears so i gotta hate Christina aguilera who looks like britney" kinda feeling! its just not logical for them to love artists in different ways i guess....
