Taylor has a seperate PDF on their site for strap buttons...it applies to all guitars with bolt on necks:

totally. i don't charge and my guitar center back in STL does it for free too.

it didn't seem too hard so i did it myself. and i have done it for other friends too. it is quite rewarding. first you mark where you want the button. i go for just a little past the center of the heel on the treble side. never put it on the back. it'll cause the guitar to want to roll forward and it is way uncomfortable. you want it on the side. take an awl and push it in to make your mark. then take a countersink to the mark. this will insure you don't pull up any of the finish as you drill the hole. you have to use a very small drill bit for the first go and then increase only a bit at a time until you get the right sized hole. (to find the right sized bit i take a peice of scrap wood in the basement and size the screw to the right bit) then put a spot of white glue in there and screw in the pin. it is a good idea to buy felt washers from the hardware store to put between the wood and the button as well. they cost 3 cents a peice.

i've never had any problems but i must say that i have a lot of woodworking experience (i grew up making bike and rollerblade ramps and rails and helping dad with home improvements).

so either bring it in or be very very cautious.

yeah i was watching the chicago concert last night and i saw on the chet it's also on the butt of the heel.

we all know dave does a lot of things in unconventional ways. maybe his first guitar was like that and he's just used to it. i'd just say that it makes it a lot different feel to be playing while the guitar pushes and dumps forward. it's very unnatural feel.

it's kinda like trying to play an ovation while sitting. it can be done but it's a lot harder than it has to be.
