how does a slide work? one of the kinds that you wear on your finger...does it touch all strings, or is there a way to just touch one?

well, it kind of depends on which finger you put it on too...easiest is probably the middle finger but that doesn't leave much to play with...if you can learn it on your pinky or ring, then you can just use it as an add-on to whatever you're playing with your other fingers...but the thing can touch one or two or three or all or whatever, and i don't really get what you're asking beyond that

you'll want to try for the pinky finger. and yes it does touch all the strings or some but you typically play only 1 or 2 strings at a time. one really cool technique is to learn to "play behind" the slide, by fretting behind the slide and you can play all sorts of chords and intervals.

also, you want to lay your fingers on the strings behind the slide even if you're not fretting anything. otherwise you get noise from both sides of the slide and it sounds horrible.
