After everyone talking so much about Alvarez's I have been wanting to get one as well. Next time I am at Guitar Center I will have to check them out. I have only played them once along time ago, but I remember I like the sound of them.

for recording on your computer.

First you need a mic to mic the guitar, but good quality mics for guitars are pricy, and direct to your computer hinders sound. For good sound with that preamp on there, you need a mixer (you can survive with the preamp on your guitar, too, but to get really good sound buying a standard pre amp is desired). You plug it into the mixer, adjust the trebel, middle, bass, and such. Then you put that into your line in jack on the computer (not the mic, that could harm your soundcard (like mine) and will give you a bad sound). Then, you need a recording program, but most good ones are pricy, and I don't think I am allowed on the boards to offer the version I have because I didn't buy it. Plus I no longer have the install file and cool edit pro was bought and then changed into a different program. I havn't found an old cool edit pro 2.0, so I am out of luck. Anyways, yeah, there you go. I have even more things I do, but I have a studio setup here. You might want to just go for the mic, because it gets complicated, as you just read.
