Electric Choice Pt 2

Unread post by Appfro » Thu Oct 30, 2003 12:51 pm

ok ive done some more research w/ the suggestions i got in the other thread...so now im changing the poll to see which you guys think is better.

Gibson Faded SG Special http://www.elderly.com/new_instruments/ ... SF-BRN.htm
Epiphone Les Paul Custom
http://www.davesguitar.com/product/2002U.JPG

ive been looking at these gibsons and haven't read a bad thing about them except that they are soft because they have no lacre finish. im kinda interested in your opinions and if anyone has delt w/ them or not. ive pretty much ruled out the epiphone sg, and the gibson faded les paul special...the reviews weren't as good. so let me know.

ps. im sorry im being such a pain in the ass about this, but i really do want to make sure i get the right guitar for me that won't kill my already hurting bank account.

Allthough I favor the bodystyle of the LP over the SG, I'd have to go with the genuine Gibson over an Epiphone. Maybe I'm just a close minded gear guy, but I've got to believe that the Gibson will turn out to be a better guitar... at least they have in my experiences. I'd wager that it'll pass the ages better than the Epiphone and that if you ever choose to get rid of it, it will bring a better resale value. But it does all come down to playing them and seeing which one feels better and sounds better to you. Afterall, it's your dough!

AAAAH SO MANY PROS AND CONS

gibson...soft wood...that' important, but i don't have to change anything on it

epiphone...probably takes a better beating, but i have to change the tuning machines, tuner switch, and pickups. i hate decisions.

was it necessary to have a poll between a Gibson and an Epiphone? Gibson all the way...

but i would go for a Fender, its much better when the strings go through the body

i like the sg better, but im worried about the soft wood. the reviews say it dents easily. wouldn't it be better to get the les paul and just customize it yourself?

the number 1 way to not get dents in your guitar:

DONT HIT IT ON STUFF
