Well. Christmas is farely close.. sort of...

I was thinking about recording equipment, for my comp.

If possible, I'm looking for something under $200. I really don't need anything too fancy. Just enough to get buy, and to not sound like shit.

What would you all recommend...?

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

seriously, a good computer mic in a dorm room or other small room can capture the whole thing pretty well. i just never seen the need to invest in recording equipment when most computers can do just great with free software from the net and a 20 dollar mic from walmart.

and if your really need a CD quality thing, your label will be sending you to a studio anyways :D

Check out the recording section where i just finally posted some songs i've done with nothing more than Microsoft sound recorder and a mic that came with the computer.

Just wanted to comment that $110 is an EXCELLENT price for the M-Audio MobilePre. (NO sales tax and FREE Fed Ex shipping). Thanks for the post JKanter. I was shopping specifically for one of these and just bought it when I read your post. The Fed Ex guy came today with the delivery. Unfortunately, I wasn't home to sign for it (Ahhh!) But, I'll get it tomorrow. Can't wait to make some recordings.
