a good acoustic amp

I have a taylor 810. A relatively new player and I am listening to luther college cd with dave and tim reynolds. But I am playing my acoustic with a fishman humbucking rare earth though my fender hot rod amp. I was looking to buy an acoustic amp but I don't want to spend more than 400. I saw the yorkville and they sound nice. Anyone recommend this one or another one?? SWR are nice but toooooooooooooooo expensive. I am basically a home player..few gigs later..

Ah, man, if you want a good amp to mic that will give you the BEST acoustic sound ever (I can't believe I never brought this up) get a Sound Board!

A few guys were pissed off how they couldn't get a pure acoustic sound out of an amp. So, they started a quest to try and create an amp that would sound as close to an acoustic sound as possible. What they ended up building was a panel of wood. YES, wood. It's a big vibrating spruce board! It sounds like a huge acoustic, nothing like any amp ever. My dad designs speakers and amps for a living, and so they sent him one to try out (without a pre amp, but he has pleanty of those), and tried it out. It's amazing. The greatest thing is, they never asked for it back! It's almost like they forgot about it. It's sitting in the other room. It's wonderful! I love to play my acoustic on it, or any acoustic.

I don't know their website, but I'll get it from my Dad tomorrow, and post it. You guys are going to love these things. They are Gods for acoustic amps.

for an amp definately ultrasound, but like Ranting said, soundboards are great.

Don't even bother looking at an SWR. Ultrasounds blow them out of the water and cost way less. I know because I have played on both extensively and am the proud owner of an Ultrasound myself.

Ultrasound is DEFINITELY the way to go.

I bought a 50 watt yorkville..for $399. I live in Canada, so I think I got a good deal and it sounds nice. But now It has a jack for a MIC..What is a good acoustic guitar mic to put in it. I have a rare earth and would like to try both at once while performing. Or is this overkill?

SWRs are a lot cheaper though

they are? prices are around the same, i thought. running a taylor equipped with ES, i'd put it through an ultrasound, though, which is what i'm eventually getting. had more problems with the california blonde than i did with the Pro 100. mmm.

all the ultrasounds i've seen have been more expensive, then again, i dont have that much experience with them.

all i know is that the sound i get out of my alvarez with my strawberry blonde is awesome and made firedancer jealous at one point (and he has an 814 with an ES)

my favorite acoustic amp that i've played through has got to be a Trace Elliot Acoustic Cube. I play through one at church every week and use it as a monitor and it works perfectly. Its got a really nice sound and is surprisingly loud for something so small. Just about any Trace Acoustic stuff is good, but they tend to get a little expensive.

does anyone know anything about roland amps? i read about them in a magazine and it said they had really good acousic amps. does have any info on these, price? quality? etc...

Never heard one, but based on the fact that it's made by Roland, I would say that it's good, but nothing exceptional. Roland makes pretty middle-of-the-road products.
