Then there are definitely some nice Martins in that range, although I don't know if that's what I'd get. Hmmm, that's a tough range. Let me think about it...

if you want to buy a martin (which i suggest) the d15 is the best for the price... i got mine for 425.. here are some clips of it.

D-16

Unread post by Speenis » Fri Dec 06, 2002 8:53 pm

As Xoosh said, the D-15 is a real nice guitar spec wise. I almost bought that guitar, but instead I am saving up for a D-16GT. The D-15 is solid wood throughout which is really nice, but to me it sounded a little tinny, i think its just the all mahogany. I prefer a spruce top which changes the sound quite a bit and is also why im saving for the d-16gt. IMO, you cannot go wrong with a Martin in that price range, but i know as i am writing this, someone is probably saying the opposite. The DM is also a nice guitar although it is not solid throughout, but it has THE mans initials in it so you cant go wrong.

I'm definitely more of a martin guy, but you can probably get a taylor 310 for 700, 800 most and I think that's the best guitar in the price range honestly

firedancer, i think he means you can get a 310 for 700-800 bucks. The last time i went to Guitar Center, i was almost positive the 310 was selling for a little over 1k.

I was gonna mention that earlier. The last time I was at Guitar Centre in Manchester, CT the Taylor 310 was on sale for round $900. I played it and it sounded wonderful. I wanted it!! the 714ce wasn't too shabby either 8) but it was about $2400. That 310 though - nice!
good, and you?

These are list prices, because at my music store, I have seen some taylors...a 510 (or something in the 500 series) was selling for $1200

Why doesn't TAYLOR's website even giv you the list price???

Even Martin does that!

I got a sweet deal on my Taylor 310 from guitar center. A friend bought the same guitar during their memorial day sale _AND_ there was a quoting error that they had to honor. So when I went to buy mine he brought his receipt and they MATCHED it. Got it for $760 if I recall. If you're in the Baltimore area I wouldn't mind lending you the receipt for the afternoon :)
