Anyone ever heard of Labseries amps?

I own a L5. It's big. It came with my Gibson that I inherited from an uncle. I use it for my accoustic as well though. [Mostly].

I cannot find any info on Labseries though. Anyone know anything about the company and what kind of quality they represent generally speaking?

I've had a little trouble figuring out all the different functions. For example it is a stereo amp, so it has two inputs [actually it has four because either side has a high and a low input, anyone know what this is for anyway? I only use the high coz I can't figure out what the low is for.] and I think one is more of a bass input because it has fewer knobs.

Hi-Z is for instruments, Lo-Z is for microphones. I think. Maybe it's the other way around, I can't remember at the moment.

Low Z inputs have 3 holes (or prongs...can't remember now) and are generally used for microphones.

both my hi and my lo only have one hole to plug into, or is that not what you mean?

I have no idea what XLR means. I just have two times two holes to plug a cable into divided over two sets of buttons and knobs [bass, treble, reverb etc]. Each set of two has one that says high and one that says low. Both holes are the size of a normal guitar plug. [sorry for my obvious ignorance of the official terms. I just play, I don't know much about the technical side.]

The high gain input --sometimes labeled Input 1-- might be loosely called the "louder" input of the pair. This high gain input on your amp increases the signal level at the preamp stage, and produces a louder sound at lower volume control settings. In other words, if your amp's volume control is set at 3 for example, your guitar will be louder when plugged into the high gain input, when compared to the low gain input. But note that when the amp is turned up to full volume, there is no difference between either input.

The high gain input might be useful if the output of your guitar's pickups is relatively low compared to other types of guitar pickups. Lower output is a typical characteristic of most passive, single coil pickups. Higher output is typical of humbucking (dual coil), and active pickups such as EMG pickups.

Generally, there is no harm in using either input, but a guitar with really hot pickups might cause an undesirable type of distortion (clipping) when plugged into the high gain input on the amp.
