Opinions on Garrison guitars

Unread post by the floodzone » Mon Sep 01, 2003 2:01 am

I'm think about buying a Garrison G30 guitar and was wondering if anyone has one or has any info/opinions on them. Also any price info would be helpful. The G30 I'm thinking of is about $540w/case.

Top, anybody with opinions on this.

Or, if anyone has any ideas of a good guitar in the $200-$500 range would be nice.

Takamine's make the best guitars in the price range in my opinion.

I've never played Garrisons.

Nice avatar.

Thanks about the avatar :D

I pretty much decided against getting one and am probably getting a Taylor 110 (I believe thats the model number). Comes out to be about the same price and its a Taylor.

No, it's not a big baby. It's a new model Taylor released this year. Haven't had a chance to play one yet, but the word on the street is it's pretty good for the price.

You might want to also look at some other guitars - Alvarez, Takamine, hell maybe even a Martin (D-15 of course ;))!

Not to my knowledge. Pretty sure its a completely different guitar. The sales person said they've been selling them very quickly and it sounded and felt great to me.

the 110 is a full sized guitar. i played it a few times and thought it sounded really good. it had the bright sound that all taylors are known for. the reason i didnt get one is that i wanted my next guitar to be the guitar i have for a long time, so the laminated back and sides really turned me off. if your not worried about that then i would say that the 110 is a really good guitar. but buy what you like, after all your the one playin it.

I was thinking about gettin a 110, But I decided to go for a A/E instead.... I could put a pickup in the 110, But i figured i could get an A/E for 350,to sound as good as the 110 with a pickup..

I have played a garrison. They have a few at the guitar store. They are supposed to have glass in them (I think that's the right guitar). It wasn't bad, but not great. The action was good, but I didn't really dig the sound as much as the other guitars in there. I can't describe really what it sounds like. I thought it was a bit bulky for me. They aren't bad, if you like that sound and feel, but IMO, for other guitars at that price, they wouldn't be high on my list.
