----------->BEST LOW END MARTIN?????
Hey guys, I am trying to decide on what low end martin I want. I'm pretty sure about gettin a DX1-R, the one with the rosewood (cause it just looks better than the regular mahogany), but I've also been looking at a few Martin Sigma guitars, specifically the Sigma DR-41. It seems like the Sigma has more features and asthetic details than the Martin, but I'm fairly confident that the DX1-R will sound a lot better, simply because it's a friggin Martin. What do you guys think? What have you heard about the Sigma guitars? Is the DX1-R a good axe for the money or should I go for a higher end model? HHHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you have the money and you think youre worthy then go for a high end guitar whether it be a martin or a taylor or whatever else you may choose.
HOWEVER: if you choose to go low end then get an alvarez or a takamine. i own an alvarez (as does fatjack (he owns 2) and some others on the board), and many here have good things to say about taks.
happy hunting

By the way, I've also been looking at some Alvarez guitars and from what I've heard from all over the net is that EVERY SINGLE PERSON that has commented on an Alvarez has given them good reviews. They seem like the best guitars for the money. Check this one out! Koa baby!!!!! http://www.music123.com/Item/?itemno=46296

Actually I found out that the link to the Alvarez I put up isn't koa it's some kind of doa shit. Anyways, I'm looking at the top of the line dreadnought that Alvarez offers, the PD100s. Looks fucking sweet, so I think I'll hunt around for one to bang on before I buy. Anyone know of an online shop with prices better than Elderly.com/Music123.com? Here's the link to the guitar...http://www.music123.com/item/?itemno=53672&match=1...looks fucking sweet, but that inlay in the fretboard is kind of strange....WHAT YALL'S BE THINKIN?????? HUH?????????

do you mainly strum or fingerpick? it is a dread, but englemann may not be for you. otherwise it seems like a winner.
theres no need to really go for a high end alvarez as they produce great guitars even at the RD8 level. it just depends on what you want.

I kind of do a mix of both. I listen to Tim Reynold's solo acoustic work a lot as well as....don't beat me up please....some of John Mayer's live acoustic stuff (I don't care what anyone says, be can fucking play). Anyways I neglected to mention that the reason I started looking at Alvarez is because my girlfriend is learning how to play and she just bought the cheapest Alvarez dreadnought (RF8 or RD8 or something) and I was impressed by the playability. The one thing I found strange about it was the sound of the thing...it sounded a little metallic for a dreadnought with a solid wood top...although I think it sounds that way because the sides and back are laminate. I'm hoping that since the high end Alvarez dreadnoughts are solid wood on all sides (no fuggin laminate) that they will sound a bit better. Any thoughts???

my RD20S is the lowest level alvarez with a solid top, the RD8 has a laminate. i really like the sound of mine, as does everyone who hears me play. the playability is great, and id take it over a low end martin anyday.

How much are you looking to spend? I have been told by some Martin friends that a Sigma is better for the money than the DX's. For around 599 I am a big fan of the standard D-15. It is entirely solid wood, and produces one hell of a sound for the price. It plays sweet also. Try to look past the beauty of it, or lack there of. Its a solid guitar and should last you a lifetime with proper care as it should. Keep us informed.Hey guys, I am trying to decide on what low end martin I want..........
