oh and btw, dave played the gibson model, not the epiphone. Which is made with slightly different materials and hardware.

Taylor 914c with electronics put in but not from teh factory. I belive Monk puts in all his electronics. He also runs a 714 for Stay or Leave/ You Never Know. and a w65 12 string for Grey Street, Raven, Bartender, Big Eyed fish, Kit Kat Jam, etc. if i left any out.i-am-me wrote:What's that acoustic he uses on his concerts now adays and on farmaid from last year?

500 on what is so far inferior...the Gibson isn't really like an acoustic until you plug it in, and even then it doesn't have that "acoustic tone"...thats why I have my Taylor 814ces...meh...if you record direct alot (like me) it does the job increadibly well...no sound leak when recording...good luck...

The epiphones are just made less quality then gibsons are, usually what happens is its a gibson body, but theres a big not in it or something that makes it look bad or something, so bam, knocked down to an epiphone.. but both models are nice, but if your going at all, go for the best

Gibson Chet Atkins SST to be exact.
I'd definitely play one before you buy one, though. I've heard of a LOT (more than not) of people who don't like them after they've played them.
Also, if you're getting it b/c Dave used to play one, remember, yours won't sound like Dave's. He retrofitted it with different electronics and ran it through thousands and thousands of dollars worth of equipment to get that sound.
For that price range, there are a ton of guitars out there that you should at least consider. That way you'll either find one you like more or be convinced that the SST is the one for you.

Hey guys, u wont believe it, i got a barely used chet(gibson)for $790!!!!!Must be my lucky day. first of all, it sounds awsome and though it doesnt sound like daves, it a great guitar. Awsome sound. Definitlt recominded it. The price is somthing else though. My neibhor had it and was going to give it so his son, but his son bought one without him knowing. The father had it for more then 30 days so he couldnt return it. His son was stuck to his guitar so he was going to sell it as a used, but once he heard that i was playin guitar, he offered it for $790!Im so happy
