new guitar!!!

Unread post by paywad927 » Sat Aug 16, 2003 5:11 pm

i finally got my new guitar. its a 414ce, i got it used but the previous owner only had it for about 2 months. i played it next to a brand new one and couldnt see a difference between them (except the price). its in great condition, it only has one minor scratch that doesnt affect the sound so i really dont even care about it. i got it for $1100, which i tought was a great deal. all in all im completely satisfied with the purchase and cant wait to play it. anyway, why am i sitting here writing this when i could be playing it......

yeah, 414s are pretty amazing. btw, isaac what kind of strings do u use on yours? i usually put d'addarios on my guitar and will probably put those on first, but what do you think sounds the best on your 414?

yep...414's are great. you have a regular 414 right? i have a limited...and so far have just been playing with the nanowebs that came with 'em and they sound fantastic so far. going to slap on some d'addarios on 'em after i wear these out and see how they sound, and i'll let ya know them. um...it'll be a joint experiment! whooo!

edit: not that kinda joint!

i really want a 414 but need help

how much should i pay for a 414ce or 414 ltd with rosewood new? would anyone be willing to disclose what they paid? i dont know what a good deal is.

second does the rosewood model sound like a 700 800 or 900 series guitar since it has rosewood?

third how much does not getting cutaway limit soloing? is the cutaway the best way to go?

is either ltd or not good for hard strumming?

ive played them but im not too sure what too look for.
thanks you for any help.

it would sound most like the 800's because it has a sitka top...i've heard it is a different grade of rosewood, but i dont know for a fact, and i dont know how that would change the sound.

as for hard strumming, having a LTD or not wouldn't matter, but you might want to go with a 410 instead of a 414 if you do a lot of hard strumming......

the cutaway thing i think is just preference. it doesn't change the sound much. i'd go with a cutaway if you are thinking about soloing though.
