To start, how many of you have one? I've heard only good things about the guitar but i'm not really sure about specifics. anyone who has one: would you mind telling me what you think of it and why and all that? thanks

I personally don't own one. But i really wouldn't get one unless I was playing in a band, or plugged in all the time since they pretty much produce no acoustic sound what-so-ever.

I would buy my sst again...of course I got a deal...ideal for a player in a live band...good presence...great response and attack...nice action...no feedback...solid sounding guitar

the thing that was beautiful to me was/is how it sounds direct with no preamps or effects...

it has no soundhole, but is hollow making it an acoustic...anything welse I can help with, let m e know...

hollow body electrics are quite different. you can play them acoustically, but plugged in you can only get an electric sound, but its not the same as solid body.

i didnt get to play a SST but the one i did play was horrible... dont remember what it was

With no hole.. I doubt it will make much of a sound.. Pretty much like playing an unplugged electric.. Not very much fun.

i got an epiphone chet and amp for $85 from my cousin. it sounds pretty good plugged in, but since i have some extra money, i'm just going to soup it up. not a bad guitar or anything to me. i think it gets a bad rep because of it's huge neck, which isn't so bad for me...

I had one for a little while, I bought it to use with electric amps to try and get a dirty acoustic sound, but it just didn't do a thing for me. I would never buy it again and I sold it promptly to a good friend. this guitar has only survived because dave played one, but what people ignore is that dave's was stripped of the gibson electronics and replaced with fishman electronics, so it's really not the same guitar whatsoever.

whatever you do (if you buy one), make it the Gibson model...they only have ONE type of the SST in either black or natural (I have black ;))
