Please help a noooooooooooob
Well, not a DMB noob, but a guitar noob. I own a Martin D16RGT which I "attempt" to play....I actually feel sorry for the guitar. Anyway, I am operating under the theory that if I play ever day, at some point I will have to show some progress. So, I travel a lot for work, and am looking for a beater guitar that I won't cry over if it gets warped in the back of the car, or stepped on by the cleaning lady, or stolen, etc. You get the idea.....with wanting to spend $250-350 on this used acoustic guitar, any ideas as to what would be a good buy in terms of bang for the buck? I was thinking about picking up a used Sigma, cant be all that terrible if built to Martin specs and inspected by Martin right?? It doesnt have to be a Sigma, any and all advice is appreciated......but speaking of Sigma, anyone know where I can find a price list or some kind of buying guide on their older guitars? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Seeing as how I really need the practice, and I tend to do better I don't skip any days of practice, I need a "beater" for while I am out on road trips for work. Also, when I am on the road, I can't always check into my hotel prior to doing my job for that day, so I'd prefer to not leave the Martin sitting in the car subjected to intense heat or cold (depending on time of year obviously). I'd be crushed to find that I ruined the Martin by letting it sit in the car. Not that I want to ruin any guitar, but I'd feel a lot better about replacing a $200-300 guitar as opposed to shelling out $900 or so for a new rosewood Martin. Thanks for everyones input so far.....I have been tracking some used ones on EBAY, but need to get to a music store to hear an Alvarez and the low end Martins and Sigmas. Still looking for advice if anyone wants to contribute. Thanks againLying In My Grave wrote:does anyone else find this backward? owns a great guitar, want's one not so good. boy i wish i could be in that situation.
