This questions is really for anyone who has done some real recording but everyone can feel free to chime in and take the thread anywhere(as ALWAYS happens here

).
I am considering getting a B-Band AST+A1 and using that blended with 2 Oktava MK012 mics for the DMBTabs.com DVD. The Oktava MK012 mics are top of the line for the price range...and even sound better than some much more expensive. Is it worth it to purchase the B-Band and blend that(only slightly) into the mix of the 2 microphones??? Will it help/hurt/do nothing to the sound? Lemme know what you all think....THANKS!

just try as much stuff as you can... i prefer to go straight through my amp when i record. i would mic the guitar directly, but to do that well, it would require a really expensive cardoid condenser mic (which i dont have)

I love the MK012's- they are the best sound you can get for anywhere near their price. Anywho... if your sole purpose for getting the pickup is just to blend for the DVD, then I would say it's not necessary, but if you're getting it for future use (just playing, maybe gigs, whatever), then sure get it and you can add it in to the mix, but the Oktavas should def be your main source. The AST will add a little bit of tone that the mics will miss though.

See....here's the thing. I won't be recording in a "studio-like" environment. So I guess I'm changing my question to.......Is it worth it to go with something like the B-Band(I've been keyed onto the Pickup The World pickup which is just like the B-Band....but better) or the MK012's. The Oktava's will sound amazing, but I don't know how they will sound or what else they might pick up if they are used in a non-studio setting.
Also, fatjack......this is all for the DVD. I don't have money for it, dad's throwing it all down and I will pay him back when the DVD sells.

Yeah, but if I get the money to make the DVD...and do it, then I will def sell em....EP's are a different risk
