---------------->BEST CHEAP ACOUSTIC?????????????
I'm looking at either a low end Martin/Taylor (dreadnought) acoustic that sounds decent and has low action. I want something under $400 if possible. I have a few questions: (1) What low end Martin would be best? X series or standard series? (2) How good are the Martin Sigmas? (3) How much do low end (100 series-300 series)Taylor's run? (4) Which brand makes better low end guitars?

I got my Martin DX1 for $380. It's a very basic guitar with HPL back and sides, spruce top, and some synthetic materials, but I like it. I just added a B-Band pickup and it sounds great. Here's a recording:fatjack wrote:you'll be hard pressed to find any martin or taylor for under 400 dollars...

The Seagulls are good lower priced, yet quality guitars. Their necks are a bit wider than standard though, and why I went with the DX1 over the Seagull S6+.

That would be cool if Martin and Taylor merged, and called themselves "Martay"... im sure the guitars would be kickass, but the name would just rockryopan wrote:dunno bout mart/tay...'s but you might look towards dean's as well. they play easy, have a bright punchy sound. i play a dean exotica and i love everything about it. just my $.02

I don't know how many times people have said this.. but Check out Seagull guitars. I have heard nothing but good about them, just because it doesnt say Martin or Taylor on it doesn't mean that it's not a great guitar... maybe even better than some Martins. Anways you should give em a trysticksANDstrings wrote:I'm looking at either a low end Martin/Taylor (dreadnought) acoustic that sounds decent and has low action. i have a '93 sigma dm4c
its quite nice... the neck is awsome.. but there is some buzzing on the very high frets... but what can i expect for a 10 year old guitar that cost me $220?
overall... its an awsome guitar... be sure to check out this brand
ive never played an actual martin.. but i would expect that they are comparable
