B-Band

Gcom, I know you were the one who originally posted the link, so I want your input as well as that of anyone else who knows about them.

I'm looking at installing a pickup in my D-15, and I'm not entirely sure which way to go.

How does the AST sound when compared to something such as the Fishman Matrix II? Would I be better off spending the $90 on the AST+A1 and simply going with that (would it have sound comparable to the Fishman)?

Also, how is the quality of an AST+UST+A6 combination?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

its just really bad in my opinion.... you can do better... the LR Baggs in my godin is beautiful so you could check out some stuff from them...

better yet why not get the best pickup out and purchase a Taylor with the ES system ;)

Well, all I know is that I would stay away from the UST+AST+A6. I say this because the A6 means you have to cut into your guitar and that will DRASTICALLY affect the sound of your guitar. I would think UST+AST+A2....and then you can control the sounds through a mixer or something(Like the Behringer 602A). I think that's your best way to go so you get both sounds of the UST and AST....but still only have an endpin plug in...and no cutout of your guitar

B-Band is just the best pickup out there. I was blown away when I heard it. The biggest thing to me is the muted strum sound...that's the one place that I was never satisfied at all with my I-Beam. The B-Band system is just so ridicuously accurate. I'd say as good or better than Taylor's system and you don't have to play a tin can of a guitar to get it. I'd go with the AST and the A1 preamp. best price for best sound. if you want, you can run the UST and the AST with the A2 preamp, but I wouldn't think it'd be necessary. just the AST and the A1 will blow you away.

Well, I've listened to a lot of audio samples of both, and while the AST is amazing by itself (from what I hear), combining the AST+UST takes the best of both worlds...

This site has a bunch of mp3's comparing a bunch of different pickups:

Also, do Martins have Narrow or Wide bridge gaps (for the under-bridge pickups)... I think they're Narrow, but I'm not sure and don't wanna buy the wrong one :)

I think it is wide because wide is the one for dreadnaughts
